Nigerian man tied to post, brutally thrashed by Indian mob for allegedly trying to rob house (Video)

A disturbing video captures a Nigerian man tied to a pole, and brutally thrashed by Indian mob for allegedly trying to rob a house in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar last month, which has a sizeable population of African students.

In the video, the Nigerian man can be seen tied to a lamp post, while people are hitting him with sticks and rods, and shouting, “Maaro isko! Chhodna mat isko (Beat him up! Don’t let him go)”, “Get red chilly. Beat him harder…”

By the time he was handed over to the police later that day, he was badly wounded and barely conscious. People in the neighborhood allegedly told the police that he was hurt, when he fell down the stairs while trying to escape.

The incident reportedly took place on September 24 inside a house. He was however arrested later, but his assailants who thrashed him are roaming free. The police say after he was treated in a hospital, he was produced before a judge who sent him to jail. After the video surfaced, the police said action would be taken against the attackers.
