 The Board of Ecobank Nigeria Limited said, yesterday, that the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Jibril Aku, will step down on December 31, 2015.

A statement from the bank said by the bank’s internal policy, Mr. Jibril Aku, the current Managing Director, having concluded his five-year tenure as managing director, will step down from his current role.

Naira depreciates on parallel market as demand for Dollar rises

The Naira on Monday further depreciated against the Dollar at the parallel market.

The Naira lost N1.50 to the Dollar as it was traded at N225.5 to the dollar on Monday afternoon.

This is against the N224 to the Dollar recorded last Friday.

The naira should not be devalued further, President Muhammadu Buhari said on Wednesday, despite the Central Bank of Nigeria’s growing struggles to keep the naira at current levels.

The nation’s revenue has been hit hard by the fall of global crude prices, and the CBN has imposed increasingly strict foreign exchange rules to save the external reserves and avoid what would be the third devaluation in one year.

FG receives €170 million grant to build power transmission network

The Federal Government, disclosed weekend, that it received a grant of €170 million from the Agence Francaise Development, AFD, to build power transmission network in the Federal Capital territory, FCT, and its neighbouring Nasarawa State. The French agency also made a donation to the tune of $200million towards the expansion of electricity transmission grid in Lagos State.

Naira noteThe Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power, Ambassador Godknows Igali, disclosed this in Abuja, during the inauguration of the Steering Committee on feasibility study on enhancing vocational training delivery for the power sector in Nigeria.
