Five days after the collapse of Makaval hotel in Effurun, Delta State, offensive odour is still emitting from the debris, just as the authority of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry has exonerated the church from the problem.
It would be recalled that the hotel collapsed last Wednesday and scores of visitors who lodged at the hotel were trapped in the debris, including a pregnant woman and people said to be members of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry.
The offensive odour that has enveloped the area is a pointer to the fact that dead bodies may still be trapped in the debris. Reacting to issues concerning his members, the founder and General Overseer of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin said his members did not lodge in the hotel when the incident occurred, and described the statement on that credited to him as wicked and malicious.
According to him, the church has its own guest houses that can accommodate a lot of visitors coming to the church.
“Our visitors only lodged there over two years ago, but since the last twenty months, we built our own guest houses that can accommodate hundreds of persons. None of our visitors lodged in Makaval hotel”, explained the cleric.
He added that he had earlier advised the owner of the hotel on the unstable condition of the place, but he did not heed to his advice.
Fufeyin revealed that when the incident happened, a lot of people called him from within and outside the country and warned against any act capable of soiling the good name of the church.
