Vice Principal sentenced to life imprisonment for raping 12-year-old pupil in Ekiti

An Ekiti state High Court has sentenced a former Vice Principal of St. Mary’s Girls Grammar School, Ikole-Ekiti, Taiwo Ajayi, to life in jail for raping a 12-year-old student (name withheld) of the school. According to the prosecution counsel, Ajayi who was the school's Vice Principal(Academics), committed the crime on March 18th 2014.
Ajayi lured the girl into his office, locked the door from behind and raped her on his office table while covering her mouth with a cloth so that she would not attract anyone while she screamed. One of the teachers knocked ON the door but the convict refused to open the door and threatened her not to tell anybody.
He was caught after two teachers who suspected foul play forced their way into his office. The case was reported to the police and he was arrested.
Delivering judgement. Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde, found Ajayi guilty of raping a minor contrary to Section 31(2) of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State 2012. She held that the prosecution team led by Mr. A.E. Arogundade of the Ministry of Justice, had provided enough evidence to prove him guilty of the crime.  Ajayi was first arraigned in court on October 14, 2016, and he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Abodunde rejected the convict’s counsel plea for leniency on grounds that he was a first-time offender, father and breadwinner of an aged mother.
“The cases of child defilement has been on the increase lately and to serve as a deterrent to others, my view is that the punishment stipulated by the lawmakers was deliberate to deter the offence and protect the right to dignity of the child. The defence counsel is pleading for leniency and praying for fine instead of the due punishment. My question is: who pays the victim for the lifetime scar of the trauma and torture of rape. I am unable to deviate from the provisions of the law in this instant. The defendant is found guilty as charged and sentenced to life imprisonment.”
Exhibits tendered included a medical report, statement of the accused, report of the panels set up by the school authorities and Teaching Service Commission, medical report from the police clinic and statement of the victim, among others.

APC govs tackle Fayose over comment on Buhari’s health

Image result for photos of Fayose and Buhari
GOVERNORS elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday, tackled Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State on his allegation that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on medical vacation in London, was on life support. The APC governors also stated that all the apparatuses of the nation’s government had been handed over to the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, pending the return of the President.

Chairman of APC Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, in an interview with State House correspondents in Abuja, advised Nigerians to disregard Governor Fayose’s comment on Buhari’s health, describing the comments as baseless. The Progressives Governors Forum Chairman also disclosed that the agitations by youths in the South-East was a result of the neglect of the zone, even as he said the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, was only seeking relevance for himself but cashing in on the alleged neglect of the zone. Fayose’s comment capable of causing chaos Okorocha said the comment made by Governor Fayose, who is the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  Governors Forum, was capable of throwing the country into chaos. He said:

“As you are aware, we are passing through a very difficult time in our nation and we have a lot of challenges— political, economical, social, cultural and what have you. “I want to advise that this is what many great nations of the world have passed through before getting to their point of greatness and Nigeria will not be an exception. We must see this time as a trying period for Nigeria and by the grace of God, we shall overcome.
“This called to question the recent statement created to Governor Fayose over the health of Mr. President. I want to advise that Fayose statement should not be regarded. It is baseless and there is no substance in that information. What he said is not right, it is uncalled for and that is simply over heating the polity. Osinbajo has all presidential powers “Moreover, the country is stable. The Acting President is doing a beautiful job, he is meeting up the daily duties of Mr. President. There is no vacuum and so there is no cause for alarm. “We must at this point give every support to Mr. President and we are hoping that very soon Mr. President will come back and join us. On call for Buhari’s resignation On the  call by Governor Fayose for the resignation of President Buhari, Okorocha said the Ekiti State governor lacked the powers to make such call.

He said:

“Well, I have just said that even the speculation he is making is wrong, it is unfounded. And if anybody is to speak about the President’s health, Fayose does not have the qualifications to speak for the nation on whether Mr. President should resign or stay. “It is not in our culture, it is not in our tradition. We sympathize with those who go through pains of ill-health, at that time we don’t wish them death, we wish them well. And Mr. President’s office is properly taken care of by Mr. Acting President of Nigeria until Mr. President comes back home and continues his work and finishes his term. But to say he should resign is cheap talk and does not make sense in anyway.”

Nnamdi Kanu is seeking relevance The APC Governors Forum Chairman, while commenting on the recent secessionist agitation and the ultimatum to the South-East to vacate the 19 states of the North before October 1, said it had been agreed that Nigeria would remain a united and indissoluble country. He said:

“But we must never take this unity of Nigeria for granted. We are better off a bigger nation, we are better off as one nation. We are going through problems but these problems do not mean they cannot be surmounted. On whether the Acting President would involve Nnamdi Kanu in the consultative meeting on the unity of the country, he said if there was need for that, Kanu would be involved. “Nnamdi Kanu, a young man seeking relevance,   agitating for whatever he believes in, what he stands for must be treated separately from the entire Igbo nation. The question is does Nnamdi Kanu has the capacity to lead Igbos to war? Or lead me and the governors to war? So I will stand now and Nnamdi Kanu will tell me stand up let’s go to war? ‘’So sometimes we over dramatize issue just to make a big deal out of it and that has been the big challenge,’’ he said.

Merging CRK, IRK and Social studies into a new subject is unacceptable- PFN tells FG

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria PFN, an arm of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, has kicked against plans by the Federal government to merge Christian Religious Knowledge CRK, Islmaic Religious Knowledge IRK and Social Studies into a new subject to be known as Religion and National values. Recently there was a public outcry following rumors of plans by the Federal government to scrap CRK.
The Ministry of Education however came out to say that the rumor is unfounded as no one is scrapping the subject from its curriculum. The Ministry said that what has happened is that CRK, IRK and Social Studies have been merged into a new subject.

Speaking after its 2nd quarter National Executive Council meeting held in Lagos today, the National President of PFN, Felix Omobude, said denying CRK its age-long position as a single subject standing on its own has foreclosed the opportunity of the subject being studied at the tertiary institutions. Omobude while addressing newsmen said.

"The PFN is concerned at the controversy that has attended the revised Basic Education Curriculum, especially the collapse of Christian Religious Studies as part of an omnibus subject known as Religion and National Values. We noted the explanation by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) on some of the issues raised. There is really no justification for the uncertainty the NERDC has created which has opened up the implementation of the curriculum to the whims and caprices. Collapsing CRK as only a part of Religion and National Values forecloses the opportunity of the subject being studied at the tertiary level by students and is unacceptable’’ he said.
The PFN president commended the Federal government for prosecuting the war against Boko Haram. In the same vein, the body asked the Federal government not to relent in its efforts to rescue the remaining Chibok school girls as well as bring a lasting solution to the religious crisis in Southern Kaduna.

“PFN is worried at developments in Southern Kaduna, especially the lack of prompt response to guarantee the security of lives and property there, leading to a loss of lives of many indigenes of that area. A delegation from the PFN recently paid a visitation to Southern Kaduna and made a presentation of N15 million worth of relief materials to the different groups, irrespective of ethnicity or religion. From this visit, we can see that there is much more that urgently needs to be done for the people of Southern Kaduna and urgently too. We call on the Federal government and Kaduna State Government to immediately improve on their rehabilitation efforts,’’ he said.

President Trump is under fire from his own party for his latest tweets berating MSNBC hosts

Many Americans believe president Trump's tweets berating MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough are of a personal nature and just too much. Members of his own party have been quick to scold him for what they term his 'unpresidential' tweets. House Speaker Paul Ryan who is republican made his disapproval known during a Capitol Hill press conference. He said:

'Obviously, I don't see that as an appropriate comment. Look, what we're trying to do around here is improve the tone and the civility of the debate. This obviously doesn't help do that.'
Jeb Bush tweeted it was "Inappropriate. Undignified. Unpresidential."
Republican senators Lindsey Graham and Ben Sasse were equally scathing in their criticisms.

OAP Freeze fires back at US based Nigerian who threatened to kill him for criticizing the Hallelujah Challenge

Hallelujah Challenge

The US-based Nigerian man, @Engr_Josh8 on Instagram who threatened to kill the OAP for criticizing the popular Hallelujah Challenge has now threatened to kill his son after Freeze posted a photo of his ‘wife’ and posted more photos of him on his page.

Freeze wrote;

“Violence and Christianity.

Because I dared to raise valid questions about the motives behind your beloved challenge, I get a death treat from a scavenging vagrant.

This is not sad, it’s only proof that Christianity is beginning to lean towards terrorism, again, like it did during the earlier part of the 20th century, as well as the period during which the dreadful ‘crusades’ took place.

At this rate, no one can risk disagreeing with a screen munching doctrine, used for passive marketing, sold in the name of God, as the consequences are dire. This notwithstanding, I stand firm in my teachings, and I will continue to lead people away from the destruction of mind altering doctrines.

Statistically, the greatest evil known to mankind, has been perpetrated in the name of God and it is beginning to seem, in my opinion, that Pentecostal Christianity is yearning to be added to those statistics.

According to ‘truth-out.org’ and ‘Juancole.com’,

“Perhaps it is a little too early to start comparing the death tolls caused by different religious faiths in the last 100 years, but Cole takes a stab at it -and this is what he finds. In the 20th Century, of the estimated (and this is hardly a firm figure, understated if anything) 120 million people who were killed in wars and war-like acts (terrorism is war) only a small fraction of that figure was by Muslim killings. Cole offers a chart that visually displays the dramatic lopsided accountability of Christian nations: mostly those located in Europe, the US and Canada.”

Have we returned to this pattern? This time, employing a more ‘passive’ approach, or are we slowly bringing back the ‘inquisitions’ of the 12th century, where non-believers were tortured and executed?

A deeper look at Christianity reveals that just like Jesus, every one of his disciples except John, was killed. So death threats don’t perturb me, as I speak the truth and killing my person will only make me a martyr. Also, while you are at it, remember that I serve a very big God, that reveals things to me way before even your most powerful prophets can see them. ~FRZ

I’ll be teaching via Instagram live video at 12noon”

Freeze continued…

“More pictures of the man @engr_josh8 who issued me a death threat, because I raised questions about the challenge, along with a picture of the woman whom he claims he is allegedly in a relationship with.

In an Instagram post, he refers to her as #wifey. Do you know this man or the above pictured woman? If you do, kindly assist us with information, as this will enable us fish him out and prosecute him.

If this lady is really dating this evil josh, her parents need to be notified of the type of monster their child is allegedly dating. Because no parent would want their precious daughter involved with a demented man threatening to kill children.

Kindly rebroadcast to spread this message.

While this is ongoing, I urge for calm as this issue will soon be resolved! ~FRZ

This demented vagrant threatened to kill my son and I in an act of sheer terrorism and you expect me not to publish the picture of the lady he claims to be in a relationship with?

For her own safety, her family has to be notified of the threat this terrorist poses, both to her and the society at large.

Parents, please do due diligence on the people your children are in relationships with, so they don’t end up with barbarians like these as boyfriends.

Deluded cretins like these are the ones giving Christianity a bad name. He wants to kill for Christianity, imagine the dolt.

Indian Agriculture Minister caught urinating in public [Photos]

A photo of Indian Minister of Agriculture urinating in public has surfaced on the internet and he's being trolled on Social Media.
The undated photo of Radha Mohan Singh urinating on a wall, believed to be in his home constituency Purvi Champaran (East Champaran), as two security personnel stood guard went viral on Thursday.

The minister, however, has defended himself, saying there was no urinal for long distances on National Highway 28 near Pipara when he wanted to relieve himself.

According to him, his intention was not wrong, he said the photograph was of a dhaba (roadside eatery) on the NH.

State BJP spokesperson, Rajib Ranjan, in a statement to Hindustantimes said there was nothing wrong in the minister’s act.
“One cannot suppress nature’s call for long. What do you do if you are travelling long distances and there are no public urinals on the way?” he asked HT, adding “There is absolutely nothing wrong in what the minister did.”
He further said the photograph was “six months to one year old” as the minister’s SUV had a red beacon, which the government had banned from May 1.

Ranjan also went hard against the ruling coalition party in Bihar for deriving pleasure in sharing the minister’s photograph, saying 'they are part of the corrupt combination in state,” he said.

The party, however, believed that the photograph was taken by an insider who was part of the minister’s cavalcade and subsequently leaked.

Below are more reactions from some Indians on Twitter.

Checkout these photos of the 50-year old man who stopped growing at age 5

Indian village

A 50-year-old man whose height is that of a healthy five-year-old is currently the toast of villagers and visitors to their tiny Indian village.  As a toddler, there was nothing to distinguish Basori Lal from his peers, and it was only around age five that his family started to notice that he had stopped growing.

However, because they were poor, his family could not seek medical attention to at least know what was wrong with him, and to also see if the situation could be treated.

As reported by MailOnline, Basori was never given a medical diagnosis, and to this day, his relatives have no idea what caused him to be so short.

His 55-year-old elder brother, Gopi Lal, said: “Nobody was able to take him to a doctor. We are poor people, I am a labourer. Where would I take him?”

As Basori grew older, he encountered some tough times and experienced some bullying in his village, but thankfully, those days are past.

He said: “People used to bully me a lot. They used to call me an alien. But that time is gone now. I am the only one who is being loved by the villagers.” Now, at the age of 50, Basori lives with his brother Gopi and Gopi’s wife, Satia.

The 50-year-old works in a factory with his relatives, and says he enjoys a glass of whiskey every night before bed. He has never married and says he doesn’t want to.
