A middle-aged man, Ternongo Ajai, his wife, Rebecca, and one Iyormanger Nwana, all of Gbengen village in Utange council ward of Katsina/Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, have been reportedly gunned down in their homes by some unidentified persons.
Vanguard gathered from a source that the gunmen stormed the homes of the deceased in a motorbike while the couple were having dinner at about 8pm on Wednesday, and shot them to death.
The source said: “After killing the couple, the duo also rode on the bike to the home of their next victim, who was related to Mr. Ajai and was living just a stone throw away, and also shot him before fleeing.
“On hearing the gunshots, people of the community dashed to the scene of the killing with the intention of apprehending the armed men, and also rush the victims to the hospital.
“They could not do much because the victims were already dead and the gang escaped in their bike while pretending to be chasing the murderers.”
Son of the victim, Philip Ajai, who was still in shock, confirmed the killings, disclosing that the third victim was a blood relation of his murdered father.
He said the matter had been reported to the police, and that the bodies of his parents and the third victim were already deposited at NKST Comprehensive Clinic mortuary, Haaga.
When contacted, Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hyacinth Dagala, confirmed the killing of the trio, saying further that the matter was being investigated.
