Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West has lambasted the Nigeria Football Federation over the ongoing investigation on Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi in respect of the Ivory Coast job.

The Ivory Coast Football Federation had published Keshi’s name among 58 others shortlisted for the vacant position of national team coach penultimate week. The NFF had fumed at this and vowed to sack Keshi if it was established that he actually applied for the job after he had already been signed on a 2-year deal by Nigeria. The NFF set up a committee to investigate the matter.
But former Nigeria international, Taribo West said, “ït is all rubbish.”

In a chat with Sports Vanguard yesterday, Taribo said, “That is total rubbish. The NFF should be concerned with how to reposition Nigerian football and take it to where it is supposed to  be and not dissipate their energy on frivolities.”

He contended that the protracted contract talks between the NFF and Keshi may have informed Keshi’s decision to apply for the Ivory Coast job. “The talks were on for too long. Today he is in, tomorrow he is out. No sane person would put all his eggs in one basket. Now that they have offered him the job, they should let him be. I think they should be more concerned on how to move Nigerian football forward and leave Keshi alone.

“However, if they don’t need him, they should tell him so and let him go.”
Taribo said the football house should have a structure for all the national teams. “They should have a template for all the national teams and ensure strict compliance to it in terms of execution,” he said.

The former Inter Milan star observed that the NFF as presently run was without such a template. “We should stop running up and down when things go wrong. We must have a plan and follow the plan religiously so that when anything goes wrong we can easily identify where it could be fixed.”
