A policeman serving in Imo State Command (names withheld), who was arrested for armed robbery and car snatching, said yesterday he was lured into the act by his friend in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.
The suspet, arrested alongside another policeman for armed robbery, was paraded with 26 other suspected criminals at Anambra State Police Command headquarters.
He said his friend was in the habit of smoking Indian hemp and used other hard drugs and lived expensive life, adding that as they became close, the friend revealed his real identity and they thereafter got involved in criminal activities.
He said that his friend used to visit him, driving a Toyota Highlander SUV and told him he was importing medicines from Abidjan, which he was selling to distributors, not knowing that he was an armed robber and a car snatcher.
The suspect had been in the police force for 11 years.
