Arsene Wenger will be rewarded for taking Arsenal to the top of the Premier League by being handed a new contract that will keep him at the Emirates until 2019.
The club hierarchy are keen to keep Wenger and hand him a two-year extension to his current deal that runs out next season.
Wenger has come under pressure over the last few years for failing to win the title since 2004.
But he has proved this season that he still has the appetite and drive to bring success back to the club.
And the current run of form - convincing Premier League wins against Manchester United, Watford and yesterday's 2-1 win over Everton, along with a momentous win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League - has shown that Wenger has not lost the knack of unearthing talent.
He has also been assured that money is available to him if he wants to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window.
Wenger is aware of the club's enthusiasm to keep him at Arsenal until 2019.
If agreement is reached, it will mean Wenger has been at Arsenal for a remarkable 23 years.
Negotiations are set to open at the end of the season as Arsenal want to avoid continued speculation about Wenger's future if his contract runs into its last season.
