Ondo State government has exposed the illegal activities perpetrated by some of its workers, which were against the ethics of the civil service, alleging that a good number of workers in the state were involved in unholy acts.

The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade, in a statement, revealed that the recent verification exercise organised by the state government exposed the illegal acts of some workers in the employ of the state government.

The commissioner, who noted that the verification exercise came out with shocking discoveries, disclosed that the state government has established that some workers were receiving salaries from two departments of government.

He disclosed further that the outcome of the verification exercise showed that “some retired and or dead officers were still being paid salaries.”

According to him, “some workers who have since retired were found to be collecting salaries in addition to their pensions.”

“There were established cases of fraudulent adjustments in grade levels with officers on lower grade levels drawing salaries that were well over and above their official status among others,” Akinmade added.

Reacting to the recent warning strike embarked upon by workers in the state, Akinmade said: “Despite these anomalies, government has since paid all deductions and salaries up to July. Government further directed payment of salaries for the month of August as at September 29, 2015.”
