2 men dragged to court for allegedly beating man to coma




Two persons on Tuesday appeared before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating one Fatai Agbaje to coma. The accused persons are Mukaila Ibrahim, 48, and Azeez Ibrahim, 32. The Prosecutor, Insp. Taiwo Adegoke, told court that the accused persons conspired to commit the offence on Sept. 28 at about 5:00 p.m. along Biket area of Osogbo.


Adegoke said the accused assaulted the complaint and beat him to pulp before he was rushed to a hospital. He said the offence contravened Sections 517 and 351 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun State, 2003. The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Counsel to the accused persons Mr Dauda Oyewale, prayed the court to grant his clients bail on liberal terms. The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with and two sureties in like sum.

Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payment and two passport photographs and an affidavit of means. He adjourned the case to Dec. 4 for mention.
