Diego Costa is privileged despite being benched as Spurs - Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said he has "no problems" with Diego Costa despite leaving the striker on the bench against Tottenham Hotspur.

Costa was an unused substitute as Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

On Friday, Mourinho asked the Spain international, who has scored three Premier League goals this season, to give him more when not on the ball.

Costa was seen throwing off his bib during the match at Spurs, and Mourinho said: "If he wants to hurt me, it's not with a bib. I have a good relationship with him, no problems."

The Blues boss is quoted by the BBC as saying: "If he [Costa] watched the game with some attention from the bench he will know what is needed from him."

He added: "I think Diego is privileged because he is last one on the bench. Everyone else has been on bench.

"Costa didn't play. It's not right to talk about someone who didn't play. Let's talk about [Eden] Hazard."

Mourinho was content with his side's display which put Chelsea on 15 points after 14 matches, adding: "I am more than happy with the performance.

"I am happy with the team collectively. It was the best Chelsea performance of the season, against a dangerous team. My players did everything to try and interpret my defensive ideas the with ball.

"We had control of the game and had the best chances. My team deserved more than a point."
