Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusii
PRINCE Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, will, today be crowned the new Ooni of Ife, few hours after leaving Ilofi, Iremo late Sunday evening.

The crowning, Daily Sun gathered, would not be made public as it is expected to herald the official public inauguration scheduled for December 7, in the ancient city.

The new Ooni began traditional rites at Ilofi, a sacred place of spiritual orientation for a new king, on Thursday, October 29, after his entry into the town, having emerged from the Giesi Ruling House.

He was expected to have left Ilofi on Thursday, November 19, when the 21 days he was expected to spend there elapsed.

But, informed sources said a few more days were added to ensure that all rites were completed before the coronation could take place.

A palace source explained during a chat with Daily Sun that the new Ooni would be crowned in Ile- Oodua, adding that he would be entering the palace for the first time as an Oba today.

The source disclosed that the coronation would not be made public according to the custom and tradition of the land.

“In line with customs and traditions of Ile Ife, the Ooni’s coronation will hold behind closed doors. Only the Isoros and Ife chiefs will be involved, but, I can confirm that it will be done inside the palace on Monday,” the source reiterated.
