The man identified as Onana Osua was said to have left the hospital a sad man, after he was told by the hospital management that he had five days to live due to the poisoning he allegedly suffered.
He was said to have gone home to pick his gun and subsequently went after those he suspected to have poisoned him. Six persons were allegedly shot by the rampaging man whom Vanguard learnt was the chairman of a motor park in Uromi.
The deceased, who was said to have killed the wife of one of his targets when he got to their residence, fled to the neighbouring Ubiaja community where he shot an on coming police patrol van. The police patrol van responded to the attack and gunned the deceased down in self-defence.
The Edo State Police spokesman, DSP Abiodun Osifo, however, confirmed three persons dead while others are in critical condition in the hospital.
He explained that Osua shot at a police team before the police fired back.
“It was after the incident our men discovered that he went on a killing spree and shot at the police before he met his death,” he said.
