No fewer than seven persons were killed in Jigawa State when a welding gas cylinder exploded in Ruba village of Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of the state
Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, Malam Muhammad Gudado, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Dutse, the state capital that the incident occurred at about 12.30pm on Sunday when the cylinder exploded. “The day was a market day,” he said.
“Welding gas exploded in Ruba village market, Kafin Hausa Local Government yesterday at about12.30 pm, killing seven people and injuring two,” Gidado said.
The NSCDC boss explained that the explosion seriously damaged the two legs of the welder, saying investigation was ongoing to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
According to him, the remains of those who died have been handed over to their respective families for burial. He said his men operating in the area had taken those injured to hospital for medical attention.
