Turkish giants, Fenerbahce have pulled out of the deal to sign Nigeria international, Mikel Obi, after the Chelsea midfielder demanded he be paid five million Euros a season, according to media reports.
Turkish-football quoted Fenerbahce president, Aziz Yildirim, as saying that his team did make an enquiry for the Jos-born star, but was put off by ‘The Blues’ high asking price and the players wage demands.
The Super Eagles’ midfielder asked for €5 million per-season on a four-year deal, while Chelsea wants €15 million for Mikel to join the Turkish club.
“We made an enquiry for Mikel, the deal would have cost a total of €35 million; €15 million transfer fee to Chelsea and €5 million per-season on a four-year deal for the Nigerian international.”
Yıldırım was quoted as saying by Turkish-football.com in a press conference at the Topuk Yayla training grounds.
