Seriake Dickson |
Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has asked the opposition parties to forget about winning the December 5 governorship poll in the state.
Dickson said the achievements of the PDP government in the state would enhance its victory at the election.
He said with the announcement of December 5, 2015 as the governorship election day by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the PDP would soon begin a formidable campaign in all parts of the state.
Dickson said this while addressing over 400 political appointees at the Government House in Yenagoa, a statement by his media aide, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said on Thursday.
The governor said Bayelsa remained a stronghold of the PDP, despite the activities of mischief, makers using propaganda to deceive the unsuspecting public.
Describing the PDP as strong and united, Dickson noted that all Bayelsa indigenes believe in the ideals and programmes of the PDP as the only national party that had given the Ijaw people a sense of belonging by providing a platform for Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to become Nigeria’s president.
He expressed optimism that Bayelsa State indigenes would come out en masse to express gratitude to the PDP by casting their votes for the party .
He asked the political appointees to gear up for the campaigns, noting that apart from the laudable achievements his administration had recorded in its first term, the party structures were strong enough to clinch victory at the governorship poll.
He said, “You are all aware that the drums of politics have started beating. For some people, the drums started beating a long time ago. They have been engaged in one type of distractive action or the other. But, for us, we have been working to deliver results, which are everywhere for our people to see. And that is why I must congratulate you and all the people of our state for the several achievements that we have been able to put in place.
“We have not started the campaigns, but we want to inform you that the PDP is getting ready to reply with our big drums. Every well-meaning Bayelsa indigene knows that the other party has no room for us and that is why you must be steadfast and vote for the Ijaw people’s party, which is the PDP.”
