Barely 24 hours after the gruesome murder of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leader, Chief Atoza Ihindan, and 20 others in Katsina/Ala local government area of Benue State, two unidentified armed men, in the early hours of yesterday, murdered a couple, Mr. And Mrs.Tyav Yina, in their home.

Sunday Vanguard gathered that the couple, who owned Tyav family local cooperative, were killed in their Katsina/Ala residence by the armed wielding men who stormed their home on motorbike.

“The two assailants stormed the home of the couple on motorbike at about 7am and went straight to the living room, shot them severally after which they shot sporadically in the area as they fled”, a resident said.

Reacting to the unending killings, former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, urged the Federal Government to beef up security in the state.
Tsav said, “What you see happening in Katsina/Ala is becoming uncontrollable because hardly a day passes without reports of gruesome murder. This is how Boko Haram started in the North East.

“I have called the attention of the Inspector General of Police to the ugly development because I feel disturbed; I’m urging the Federal Government to   deploy more security operatives to the state because it appears the personnel on ground have either been overwhelmed or compromised.

“I must confess that the present Commissioner of Police is doing his best as a thorough officer, but it appears his subordinates are not doing their jobs.”

When contacted, Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Assistant Superintendent, ASP, Austin Ezeani who confirmed the killings, said the Commissioner of Police, Hyacinth Dagala, had detailed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Unit to move into the area.
