Attempt by a soldier to scare away officials of Lagos State Transport Management Agency, LASTMA, for trying to tow a military truck he was escorting to Kaduna State, has led to the tragic death of a police officer on patrol around the area.
The incident, which occurred between Idiroko and Anthony bus stop, Lagos, saw motorists and passers-by scampering for safety.
Vanguard learned that the soldier was officially detailed to convey a white and yellow truck, belonging to the Nigeria Army, to Kaduna State.
On his way, the truck broke down at Idiroko bus stop, and he decided to sleep inside till dawn.
Some LASTMA officials decided to tow it to their office.
However, trouble started when the officials knocked at the driver’s side.
Immediately, the soldier was said to have got down from the truck with his rifle and started shooting indiscriminately into the air and at the LASTMA officials.
