Motorists and commuters that ply Oshodi-Apapa Expressway have harrowing experiences in the hands of armed robbers as the bandits rob them of money and other valuables, taking advantage of the perennial traffic gridlock at Mile 2 and environs.

The bandits brandish dangerous weapons to make their victims submit to them everything in their possession.
Among those who fell victim was a Vanguard Newspapers staff, who was dispossessed of his mobile phones and other valuables.

The Vanguard staff (names withheld) who was on his way home after the close of work at about 9:30p.m., recounted his experience: “On my way home, a few steps from Otto Wolf Bus Stop, two men stopped me with a gun, demanding for my phones and other belongings.

“Prior to that time, two men had walked passed me and must have sent a signal to the other two, who came on a bike, stopped and pointed a gun at me.”

Another victim, a woman, recounted her ordeal: “I was walking on the bridge, hoping to find a motorcycle to escape that deadly spot, when some men parked beside me and pointed a gun at my face.

“I quickly surrendered everything I had on me to them, without waiting for them to ask and the crossed to the other lane.
“Police could not see the incident because they were obstructed by petrol tankers parked all over the place.”

Yet another victim said: “At the Mile 2 bridge, the lane that leads to Oshodi was slightly free, so I had to stay on that lane, since I was going to Oshodi.
“At first, two boys walked past. They later called their gang members, who seized me and collected my handbag containing N80,000 and other belongings.”
